Ellen Piligian, MSJ, CPA
Narrative Medicine Senior Writer | Storyteller
Ellen Piligian is a journalist and storyteller has always focused on the people behind her stories, from a young mother dying with ALS to award-winning authors, from Olympic athletes to two activist moms in the Flint Water Crisis. Her bylines have appeared in the Detroit Free Press, New York Times, People magazine, International Figure Skating, Delta Sky, and others. She’s also a member of the Washington Post Talent Network. She has a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University and a CPA in Narrative Medicine from Columbia.
Since her caregiving experience with her parents, she’s focused more on stories about healthcare and end-of-life, including death care, disability and patient advocacy — with people and pets. She also writes personal stories and did a spoken word show about giving her mother a kidney.
