Introducing Narrative Medicine to High School Students
Our inaugural Mindworks Narrative Lab featured Dr. Sue Kenney, a thought leader in narrative pedagogy and creator of one of the first high school-level Narrative Medicine courses in the country. With over two decades of teaching experience and a Certificate of Professional Achievement in Narrative Medicine from Columbia University, Dr. Kenney shared how she designed a semester-long course for juniors and seniors at Immaculate Heart Academy in New Jersey.
Participants also took part in hands-on exercises inspired by Sue’s methods—gaining insight into how narrative medicine can be introduced earlier in the education pipeline to shape the next generation of compassionate professionals.
